The body of an employee of the malaria department, Botta Suribabu (21), at Marikavalasa was found in a well with injuries on his person, on Friday, according to the PM Palem police. He was suspected to have been murdered.
A case was registered against M. Ramu Naidu, father of a girl he wanted to marry, and six others under Sec. 302 of the IPC, Inspector of PM Palem Ch. Tirupathi Rao said.
The youth’s parents had given their consent to his marriage with an Intermediate student of the same village, but her father and relatives opposed.
Suribabu had been missing since he left his house on November 5, after informing his parents that the girl had called him to meet her. His parents lodged a complaint with the police.
Trapped
Joint Sub-Registrar-I of Anakapalle Mohammad A. Hussain was arrested along with another person, M.S.S. Rao, on Friday while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 4,000 from a complainant for registering a mortgage deed of a vacant site for obtaining bank loan, Deputy Superintendent of Police of ACB M. Narasimha Rao informed.
The arrested persons were produced in the ACB court.
