A 75-year-old woman was allegedly smothered to death by two robbers near the busy Jagadamba Junction, late on Monday evening. As per the initial reports, two persons entered the house belonging to the victim, Jamaluddin, under the pretext of taking a portion for rent. Once inside, they smothered the old woman, who was alone in the house, to death, and tried to get away after taking the gold chain that she was wearing.
It is learnt that the neighbours suspected the movement of the duo and nabbed one of them, while the other escaped. The Two Town Police are investigating the case.
