Prohibition and Excise officials seized about 400 kg of dry ganja, estimated at Rs. 40 lakh, on Thursday.
The ganja was being transported in a Mahindra Bolero vehicle, and was stopped by officials near Etigairampeta village in Golugonda mandal.
Escaped
However, the driver and the cleaner managed to flee from the spot.
The ganja was neatly packed in 140 packets and was covered by rice husk sacks to hoodwink the police.
The contraband was reportedly procured from Chintapalli area in Visakha Agency and was being transported to Vijayawada.
The check was conducted by Excise inspector of Narsipatnam M. Jaganmohan Rao and his team.
