CM to visit Visakhapatnam on Feb 4
Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister would be in Visakhapatnam for a two day visit, on the 4th of February, attending a wedding ceremony of a Congress MLA’s daughter and also the wedding of another MLA’s son (YSR Party's camp). Mr. Y S Jagan Mohan, MP (Kadapa) and chief of YSR Congress will also be present at the same function. According to the sources, daughter of Mutyala Papa MLA- Narasipatnam and son of Mr. Dharnama Krishnadas MLA- Narasannapeta will be tying the knot on February 4, at the Visakhapatnam Port Diamond Jubilee stadium. Later after attending the wedding ceremony, Mr. Kiran Kumar will be addressing the Congress party cadre at AMCOSA hall. The City Congress President and MLA- Visakha North, Mr. Tynala Vijaya Kumar, requested the party cadre to take part in this interactive session. Meanwhile, Mr. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, MP- Kadapa and chief of Y S R Congress Party, will also be attending the wedding ceremony. After which ,he will be inaugurating the City Party Office at Maddilapalem. The District administration is making all the necessary security arrangements for the Chief Minister's visit.

District collector launches AVENUE PLANTATION of RINL
Sri Lav Agarwal, IAS, District Collector & Magistrate today launched “Avenue Plantation of 25,000 trees” being carried out by RINL under its Corporate Social responsibility programme with the aim to make Vizag – a green city and also to combat pollution in and around the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Lav Agarwal said RINL under the leadership of Sri AP Choudhary, is contributing to the development of the city as a big brother and lauded the efforts of RINL in this endeavour. The Collector said it is high time to protect the city and expressed happiness that the industries are coming forward to plant 40 lakh trees in the city to make it very green. He said that VSP’s immense contribution to the city is highly laudable.
Sri AP Choudhary, CMD, RINL said that VSP has been always on the fore front in benefiting the society at large and the avenue plantation taken up by RINL will be completed in a time bound manner i.e in just one year. He thanked the district administration for the continuous support extended to VSP in all fronts. Sri Choudhary said that RINL has so far planted 48 lakh trees and would plant 15 lakh trees very soon to realize the dream of reaching to 6.3 million trees i.e one tree for one ton of steel produced. It is noteworthy to mention that RINL’s tree plantation survival rate is above 90% as against global standards of 65%.
RINL has taken up this avenue plantation on the advise of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment and Forests under the Chairmanship of Dr.T.Subbirami Reddy.

Vizagites pay their tributes to The Father of the Nation
Vizagites paid homage to the Father of the Nation – Mahatma Karamchand Gandhi on the occasion of his 64th death anniversary on Monday. Mr. P. Janardhana Rao, Mayor, garlanded the statue of Gandhiji near Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation and observed a two minute silence in his memory. Later speaking to the gathering, he said that the every Indian in order to become a good human being , should follow the foot steps of the departed great leader.
As per the regulations of the GVMC no official should utilise motor vehicle on Monday, Hence the Mayor reached the venue by foot to pay tributes to Gandhiji. Later the activists of Telugudesam Party led by Mr. V. Ramakrishna, MLA- Visakha East also paid tributes to Gandhiji. Further about 40 activists including the women wing, held a protest at the Gandhi statue to withdraw the liquor activists which is against the Gandhiji’s policies. Mr. K. Tata Rao, P S Naidu, P. Mutyala Naidu, Ms. Vani, Ms. Nargis and others were also present.
A number of educational institutions including Andhra University, Gayatri Vidya Parishad also conducted sessions to remember Gandhiji’s principles and lifestyle. During the sessions, prayers from Bhagawad-Gita, Quran and Bible were rendered to honour his contributuions to the Nation, which was followed by a peace rally.

Annual Refit Conference 12 Inaugurated At ENC
A two-day Naval Annual Refit Conference (ARC 12) was inaugurated today, 30 Jan 12 at Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command. The Conference draws the refit plans for all ships and submarines of the Navy for the ensuing two years. It is attended by delegates from the Naval Headquarters, the three Naval Commands, the Tri Services Command Port Blair, Dockyards, Repair Yards and Material Organisations of the Navy. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command highlighted the growing role of the Indian Navy resulting in extended deployment of ships away from base port, which calls for higher operational availability of ships in better material state. Within the next few years, he said, several platforms with the most advanced weapon systems and long ranges, will be based at Visakhapatnam making this as one of the most significant naval bases in this part of Asia.
The Conference is being chaired by Chief of Material, Vice Admiral Ganesh Mahadevan, Principal Staff Officer, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy). The Conference will
deliberate on critical technical and logistics aspects concerning maintenance and refits of all Indian Naval ships and submarines and also draw up plans for modernisation and up-gradation to maintain lethal edge of combat assets of Indian Navy.

TDP gets public support : Gadde
City Incharge- Telugu Desam Party, Mr. Gadde Rama Mohan, said that the TDP is regaining support from the public, about 1.05 lakh have enrolled till now and 1.50 lakh more is expected in upcoming days of their party membership enrolment campaign. Vizag Steel Conducted Mega Free Medical Camp
Around 1000 people of all ages have attended and availed the benefit of free medical camp conducted by Vizag Steel today at Dayal Nagar near Peda Gantyada Rehabilitation Colony. Smt. Lata Choudhary, President , Visteel Mahila Samiti (VMS) has inaugurated ‘Free medical Camp’ which was organized by VMS in association with the Corporate Social Responsibility Department (CSR Dept.) of VSP with an intention to serve poor people who could not get proper medical assistance due to various reasons.
While addressing the gathering Smt. Lata Choudhary stressed the need of health for good and peaceful life. She said that VMS is mainly focusing on the societal needs like health, education, children, self employment and women welfare. She also urged the public to make use of these programmes and to give wide publicity among the people who really in need.
This camp was conducted in line with the call given by Sri AP Choudhary, CMD, RINL to conduct more number Free Medical camps in labour colonies, nearby colonies etc.,

BRTS A/c buses getting ready
Mr. R. Sasidhar, Director-Andhra Pradesh Road Trasport Service (JNNURM Project) announced that BRTS A/c buses are likely to hit the city roads soon. Among the six buses allotted to Vizag city two are ready to hit the city roads, rest of the four will be arriving soon. He was in city to inspect the training sessions to the APSRTC technical crew on Saturday at the Maddilapalem depot. Speaking to newsmen, he said the seating capacity is 35 with 240 Horse Power HPP engine and can easily take 16 ton weight. Such model buses were successful in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, he added. About 250 BRTS non A/C buses are allotted to Vizag, 213 to Vijayawada, 250 to Tirupathi and 939 to Hyderabad. These buses have low level steps and are convenient to the women, oldage, students and children. According to the Vizag depot officials, A/c buses were brought here on the request of IT industries.

ACB raids held
The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has raided the houses of three liquor syndicates along with the three Prohibition and Excise offiials on Friday. ACB seized number of valuable documents from the houses and offices of Janapriya Syndicate, Pushkara Ganesh Syndicate and Oruganti Syndicate. Based on evidence they also raided Prohibition and Excise Assistant Director Mr. V Hanumantha Rao, Mr. K. Kameswar Rao and Mr. Ramakrishna of the same department. Further investigation by the ACB officials is in progress.

In charge VC Bhagavan hoists National Flag at VUDA
The 63rd Republic Day was celebrated with flavor of patriotism at VUDA on Thursday. RINL Heading towards "MAHA RATNA"
Sri AP Choudhary, CMD, RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant said that the Company is heading towards “Maha Ratna” very soon since it is quoted high in the industrial circles, particularly Steel. The employees has the potential to achieve this dream very soon, Sri Choudhary said in his Republic Speech today.
Sri Choudhary unfurled the National Flag, took the salute and inspected the guard of honour accorded by the CISF Jawans, home guards, school children of Ukkunagaram at the sprawling Trishna Grounds in Ukkunagaram.
Sri Choudhary said that RINL has been recognized as “one of the best companies to work for” in the country for the third time in a row and advised the employees that the year 2012 is going to be a period of full of challenges but with excellent prospects. “No doubt, we will achieve success with the determination and dedication of the RINL collective”, he added. CMD said that the RINL registered its best ever turnover of Rs.10,000 crores upto the December 2011, representing a growth of 28% and achieved best ever techno-economic parameters.
Sri Choudhary said that “we have to adapt ourselves to the changing environment and cultivate a flexible thinking to evolve strategies to integrate present with the future” like 3 Mtpa was past, 6.3 Mtpa is present. 11.5 Mtpa is the immediate future and 20 Mtpa is the chartered future.
He mentioned that many welfare measures have been introduced and thrust is being given for improving various facilities in the township and efforts are also on for introducing DNB, House Surgeon & Nursing in VSGH apart from strengthening the hospital administration which would provide opportunities to the employees dependents.
Sri Choudhary felicitated the coveted Prime Minister’s Shram Award winners of five employees of RINL for their outstanding contribution in their work areas.

Republic Day Parade held at Naval Base
On the occasion of Republic Day 2012, a Ceremonial Parade was held at the Eastern Naval
Command parade ground, Naval Base here this morning. Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM, Flag
Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command took the salute. Vice Admiral Dinesh
Prabhakar, Project Director Ship Building Center (Visakhapatnam) was the Conducting Officer of
the Parade. The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief was given a ceremonial salute by Commander NK
Das, the Parade Commander on arrival. He later inspected a 50 men Armed Guard and reviewed the
Parade comprising 24 platoons including six Armed platoons of Naval personnel drawn from all
ships and establishments of the Eastern Naval Command.The Parade was attended by all Flag
Officers, Commanding Officers of all ships and establishments at Visakhapatnam, and a large
number of service and civilian personnel and their families.
Speaking on the occasion the Commander-in-Chief greeted all present on the occasion of the
63rd Republic Day and complimented the men on parade on their smart turn out and drill. He
spoke of how the nation and the Navy have progressed during this period. The 133 ship strong
force of today is expected to induct a further 49 ships and submarines in the ensuing years,
making the Indian Navy of tomorrow, a highly potent and balanced service with the right mix of
ships, submarines and aircraft and be truly a blue water force, he said.
Admiral Chopra reiterated that the exponential rise in offshore oil exploration and
production, rapid increase in sea borne trade, greater impetus for development of ports and a
steady growth in commercial traffic over the last decade have all enhanced the role and the
responsibilities of the Command in ensuring safety and security of these trade and energy life
lines in the eastern theatre. To this end, the Eastern Naval Command is now privileged to be
home to the newest frontline force multipliers. In the very near future, he said that
Visakhapatnam will be home to strategic platforms, additional P17 ships, ASW Corvettes, P8I
Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Mig 29K Fighter and AJT Traineraircraft.
He exhorted all personnel to drill, train and act decisively in meeting these commitments and
in operating our platforms and equipment. He urged one and all to renew their pledge to secure
Indias Maritime assets and further its maritime interests, wherever and whenever required,
meeting the security challenges faced by the Nation and the expectations and trust of our
countrymen.

63rd Republic Day celebrations in city
Vizagites grandly celebrated the 63rd Republic Day with patriotism on Thursday. The National tri-colour flag was hoisted at several places in the city including educational institutions, Government office premises and industries. Children from various schools presented cultural activities on this occasion. Music Saptaham in February
Noted carnatic musicians Kumaresh- Ganesh, Priya Sisters and Hyderabad Brothers would be performing a great concert in Vizag in February. Dy CM promises for progress
Mr. Damodar Rajanarasimha, Deputy Chief Minister has promissed for the development of Andhra University in various aspects. During his visit on Wednesday, he interacted with the officials of Andhra University and the District Administration and inquired about the progress. Prof. Prasad Reddy, Rector, AU requested for allotment of more funds for purchase of new equipment at Science and Engineering Laboratires. During the interactive session some of the research scholars a held protest to withdraw the retired staff, was given one more chance as Teaching Associate for which more unemployees are waiting for years together and they submitted a memorandum to the Dy Cheif Minister. Musical waves of noted carnatic mastereo, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna began in city on Wednesday. The day musical concert held at Port Kalavani Indoor stadium. The concert was organised by Vijay Nirman Company and Vipanchi of Chennai. On the Day one Dr. Murali presented his own compositions, show began with Siddhindehame in Siddhi rag, followed by Mahaniya Madhura Murthy in Mahati rag. He entraled the audience with his Thillan at the end. He will continue his concert with light music on the second day ie on Thursday. He was supported by Mr. Shiva Prasad on whistle, Mr. A. Achieve excellence through innovation: RINL CMD
Sri AP Choudhary, CMD, RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has called upon the RINL collective to be more creative and innovative so as to emerge as a trend setter in the Indian Steel Industry. “Our employees are very competent, knowledgeable and skill-oriented when compared to other industries”, he added.
Sri Choudhary was the Chief Guest at the “Annual Quality Circles (QC), Srujan Vikas and 5S recognition Function” organized by Management Services Department at T & DC Auditorium today to recognize the efforts of QC members, Suggestors and 5S depts. Sri Choudhary said that active participation of employees in these forums help the organization to grow and prosper. He said that RINL is always in forefront in innovations and creativity which led to higher productivity. He said that the employees should be ready to change the work culture to compete to the changing global standards against the backdrop of current and future expansion of the plant.
CMD appreciated the sincere efforts of the employees in implementing 4270 QC projects during 2010-11 resulted in a savings of Rs 20 crores and 36,063 suggestions that have yielded a saving of around Rs 19.4 crores in the same year. Sri Choudhary distributed certificates and felicitated 10 Creativity award winners of Srujan Vikas to mark the occasion.

Murali Mohan, AM (LMMM), the best suggestor gave presentation on “Relocation of Hydraulic Power Pack”. The QC team “Lakshya” comprised of only women employees from Electro Technical Lab (ETL) Department, which won “Par Excellence” Award in the recently held National Convention on Quality Control Circles at Hyderabad has presented QC case study which has attracted the participants attention.
Sri V Narayanan, DGM(MS) I/c gave an overview of the activities of the Quality Circles, Suggestions and 5S movement at VSP and the achievements in National and International Convention on QCs, Srujan Vikas, 5S and PM’s Shram Awards.

Congress demands for Balayya's appology
Congress MLAs sought apology from cine actor and promoter of Telugu Desam Party Mr. Balakrishna on his statement against Chiranjeevi during his visit to Vizag on Monday. Addressing the media conference on Tuesday, Mr. P. Ramesh Babu, MLA- Pendurthy pointed out that Mr. Balakrishna should come out with the realities of the present politics and follow ethics and not to make character assasinating speaches, he added. He should apologise the public before entering into the politics. He further advised him not to make any provocative statements, rather concentrate on social issues pertaining to the common man.
Continuing his speech, Mr. Ramesh challenged Mr. Ch. Ayyannapatrudu, District Convenor Telugudesam party that if he could prove any mistakes done by Shipping Minister Ganta Srinivas then he will resign to his MLA post. TDP Dist Chief Ayyanna blames GVMC:
Mr. Ch. Ayyannapatrudu, District chief Telugu Desam Party, alleged the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) of welcoming the newly appointed Minister Mr. Ganta Srinivas (MLA- Anakapalle) with a costly contract of PoP construction at GVMC staff quarters of 2.75 acres land opposite to Sampath Vinayagar temple in city. He alleged that only 3 out of 14 applications registered to this contract were accepted by the GVMC out of which one is Pratyusha Construction, belongs to Ganta, and rest are Manjira and Varsha Constructions belongs to Ganta's associates. He also stated that the same allegations will be raised and discussed in the GVMC Council scheduled for the last week of this month.

Bala Murali to sing for Vizagites
Carnatic Maestro, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna would perform live concert for Vizagites on Wednesday at Port Kalavani Indoor stadium for three days. The concert will go on under Murali Kavita Madhuri title. During the session Dr. Bala Murali will exhibit his own compositions on day one, light music with Murali Lalitha Gita Madhuri on day two and compositions of noted vaggeyakaras on the final day. Writer Janamaddi honoured with Lok Naik award
Noted writer Janamaddi Hanumat Sasthry of Kadapa was felicitated by Lok Naik Foundation on Saturday at Kalabharathi. Speaking on this occasion Justice Chalameswar of Supreme Court praised Mr. Sasthry for the great contribution of his works to the literary world both in English and Telugu. As part of the award, Sri Janamaddi received a cash prize of Rs. 1.25 lakh. Along with it he alaso received the Andhra Gnanapeeth puraskar award. Dr. Y. Lakshmi Prasad said that every year the award would be presented to those who strived hard for the development of Telugu literature at a function to be held on January 18 to coincide with the death anniversary of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. NT Rama Rao and noted writer Mr. Harivamshrai Bachan.
A life time achievement award was given to S. Rajyalakshmi and a Telugu Tejam honour to Mr. Chivukula Upendra, Dy Speaker of NewJersy State Assembly on this occasion.
Mr. Mandali Buddha Prasad, former minister, Mr. Mohan Babu, actor, Mr. MVVS Murthy, Chairman Gitam University and others were present at the ceremony.

CP launches Lane Discipline system
Mr. J. Purnachandra Rao, Commissioner of Police has launched Lane Discipline system at Maddilapalem Junction on Friday. Addressing the awareness camp, he said, to prevent road accidents and to ensure public safety to the maximum extent, heavy vehicles should go on right way and rest of the vehicles on the left portion of the Highway from Hanumanthwaka Junction to Kurmannapalem Junction passing through the City. As many as 13 Tra-Colts teams have been deployed to patrol the movement of vehicles along the Highway which covers about 26 kms in his jurisdiction. These teams will be monitoring the traffic moments from 7 am to 9 pm. He further mentioned that strict action will be taken on the vehicles indulging in snake driving. Later he released a pamphlet of the awareness camp and distributed to some of the bike riders and heavy truck drivers.On the occassion, the CP made an appeal to the public to follow traffic rules and co-operate with police to ensure public safety.

Indian Coast Guard Ship Rani Abbakka, the first in a series of five Inshore Patrol Vessels
(IPVs) to be built at M/S Hindustan Shipyard Limited, was commissioned at Visakhapatnam by
Shri MM Pallam Raju, Honourable Raksha Rajya Mantri today, 20 Jan 12, in the presence of Vice
Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, Vice
Admiral MP Muralidharan, AVSM, NM, Director General Indian Coast Guard and other senior
dignitaries of the central and state government. The Ship is named after Abbakka Mahadevi, the
legendary queen of Tulunadu, Karnataka who fought the Portuguese in the latter half of the
16th century. She was also one of the earliest Indians to fight the colonial powers and is
sometimes regarded as the 'First woman freedom fighter of India'.
The 50 meter Inshore Patrol Vessel, ICGS Rani Abbakka, is equipped with the most advanced and
sophisticated navigational and communication sensors and equipment. It is propelled by three
MTU 4000 series diesel engines of 2720 KW capacity at 2100 rpm each, coupled with three 71SII
Rolls Royce Jets to a maximum speed of 31.5 knots. At economical speed of 14 knots, it has an
endurance of 1500 nautical miles. The special features of the ship include an integrated
bridge system (IBS), machinery control system (IMCS) and an indigenously built gun mount with
Fire Control System. The ship is designed to carry one rigid inflatable boat and two Geminis
for Search and Rescue, law enforcement and maritime patrol.
Manned by 05 officers and 30 men under the command of Commandant C Vivekananda, Rani Abbakka
will be based at Chennai and will be under administrative and operational control of the
Commander, Coast Guard Region (East). The ship on joining the coast guard fleet is expected to
enhance The Coast Guard's capability in furthering its mandate of maritime safety,
environmental protection and coastal security on the Eastern sea board.

Visit of Australian Trade Commissioner to VPT & VCTPL
Mr. Michael Carter, Trade Commissioner & Consul Commercial, Australia Trade Commission – South India, has visited Visakha Container Terminal on 19th Jan. He was in town for a seminar hosting by Andhra University.
Mr. Carter visited the VPT at 1600 hrs and had a meeting with Sri. GVL Satya Kumar, Dy Chairman of VPT. During meeting Dy Chairman appraised the VPT growth and modernization schedule along with few commercial aspects related sea trade between Vizag Port and the ports of Australia. Mr Carter lauded the initiatives taken by VPT to remain as one of the Top ports of the country.
There after guest visited the Visakha Container Terminal. Sri.R Ravikumar Sr Vice President received the guest and update the Terminal infrastructure and recent additions which enhanced the terminal capacity and IT based container planning and tracking facilities through Power Point Presentation. During discussions, Mr Carter mentioned that fresh apples and other fruits can be exported in container directly to vizag which is cost affective rather through Chennai or any other port.
Earlier in the After noon, Mr.Carter attended a meeting with the CII delegates in the office of Maple Soft ware where Mr.Shiv Kumar who is the past chairman of CII welcomed and appraised the business opportunities in mutual interests. Explained regional development and need of support from Austrialian government to resolve sanctions on few sea food exports of India. He also felt that Australia could be a good market for the sea food exporters based in Vizag region. Mr Carter stated that Australia is looking forward to business opportunities in the region and also invites the investor to Australia for better business opportunities.

AITUC - TNTUC jointly to contest in GVMC elections
All India Trade Union and Telugu Nadu Trade Union will jointly contest in the next Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Employees (GVMC) Union Elections announced Mr. Ananda Rao, president AITUC - GVMC. Speaking to newsmen on Thursday at Vinoda Vedika of VJF Press Club, he said, the existing Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (VMC) Union has failed in all aspects to fulfil the needs of the GVMC employees. Enormous complaints were registered against the Union during their tenure. About 274 temporary employees were given time-scale, as a result of this joint organisation, He further stated that, 12 RO posts were sanctioned in GVMC during his previous tenure. Regional Managers Meet Held At VSP
RINL/VSP organized All India Regional Managers and Regional Sales Managers Meet on 19th January, 2012 at Visakhapatnam. Shri A.P.Choudhary, CMD, RINL, Shri Umesh Chandra, Director (Operations), Shri P.Madhusudan, Director (Finance) and Shri T.K.Chand, Director (Commercial) and Shri Y.R.Reddy, Director (Personnel) addressed the Meet. The focus in the Meet is to achieve Rs.14,500 Crs., Gross Sales turnover 2011-12 ie., 26% growth.
In his opening address, Shri A.P.Choudhary, CMD, RINL appreciated Marketing collective for registering record sales turnover of Rs.9,945 Crs., up to Dec’11. Shri A.P.Choudhary, CMD, RINL emphasized the need for achieving MOU excellent level sales target of over Rs.14,500 Crs., for the year. He mentioned that focus has to be on further enhancement of high NSR Project Sales. It was mentioned that there is scope for increasing sales in the states of UP, Bihar, Uttarakhand in addition to AP where large scale government projects are under implementation. He has also mentioned that efforts have to be made for acquiring land for our stockyards wherever possible.

Meena lokam inaugurated
Mr.S. Vijaya Rama Raju, Minister for Forests inaugurated the Meena lokam- a fish Aquarium on Wednesday at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raju said, more funds for the development will be diverted to Visakhapatnam Zoo.It is one of the biggest Zoo parks in Asia. Also an additional enclosure will be allocated for Butterflies. Later he released an Ostrich and the other birds into separate cages. He invited the public to adopt some of the wild animals and provide funds for their livelihood. About Rs. 2.5 lakhs exgratia will be given to the victims of wild animals, he mentioned. Mr. K. Nageswara Rao adopted one Lion by providing Rs. 1.5 lakh to the Zoo, according to the curator. Mr. P. Janardhana Rao, Mayor, Mr. Mallikharjuna Rao, Director Zoo parks, Mr. Ramalingam, curator were also present.

Ramachandraiah, Ganta Srinivasa Rao got cabinet berths
Mr. Ganta Srinivas, MLA Anakapalle would be placed in State Cabinet. According to the Congress sources, as per the understanding between the Prajarajyam and Congress party at least two people will be included in the cabinet after the merger is completed. According to the information available, two of the PRP leaders, Mr. Ganta and Mr. C. Ramachandraiah will be sworn in as Cabinet Ministers at the Raj Bhavan. Mr. Ganta has been influencing the district political cadre for the past few years. Earlier he had represented Chodavaram as Telugudesam party MLA, since then, he had good hold on the officials and party cadre. Mr. Ganta had a key role during the formation of Prajarajyam in 2009. For the first time, the Visakhapatnam district will be having two ministers in the State Cabinet.

RINL Takes further leap towards reducing global warming
21 CDM Projects taken up so far

Host Country Approval obtained for two projects
After achieving several benchmarks in steel production and also in techno economic parameters, RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has taken up 21 Cleaner Development Mechanism (CDM) projects perhaps the best in the Steel Industry with the major aim to reduce Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions by around 21 lakh tons annually. This is in tune with its concern for cleaner environment, one of the core values of the organization. It is noteworthy to mention that these projects are being implemented with its internal resources and expertise. RINL, a Navratna Company, has been considered as a “Green Paradise” in the Indian Steel Industry because of its thick vegetation in and around the plant.
Out of the seven cycles for completing each CDM project, two cycles have already been completed for 10 projects. Host Country approval which is the most vital thing has also been obtained by RINL from National CDM Authority for two projects namely Waste Heat Recovery from Stoves of Blast Furnace-3, Power Generation using waste pressure at Top Pressure Recovery Turbine of BF- 3.
The major CDM projects include installation of 20.6 MW Waste Heat Recovery project (expected Carbon Emission Reduction (CER) of 220612 tons , recovery of LD Gas from Convertor 1 & 2 in SMS -2 (CER of 107756 tons ), 2 X 60 MW Power Plant (CER of 865631 tons ), Power generation GETS (BF-3) (CER of 95200 tons), installation of variable frequency drives in electrical systems (CER of 74460 tons of CO2) etc.
These project initiatives are aimed to reduce global warming and also to mitigate adverse climatic changes and in the process claim CDM benefits.
To realize the dream of completing these projects, RINL has organized meetings with stakeholders in VSP recently where officials from AP Pollution Control Board, NGOs etc participated. Stake holders have appreciated the efforts of RINL in taking up the CDM projects .

Jan 2012. Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval
Command and former Director General, Indian Coast Guard will be the Chief Guest on the
occasion.
Commissioned on 19 Dec 1983, ICGS Vikram is an Offshore Patrol Vessel that was indigenously
built by M/s Mazagaon Dock Limited, Mumbai. ICGS Ramadevi is an Inshore Patrol Vessel that
built by M/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd, Kolkata and commissioned on 03 Aug
1985. ICGS Chandbibi is the second of the Inshore Patrol Vessel (Japan class) built by M/s
Sumidagawa Shipping Company Ltd, Japan, and was commissioned on 22 Feb 1984 at Port Blair.
The decommissioning ceremony of the three ships that have rendered nearly three decades of
relentless service to the nation and safeguarded its maritime zone, to be held at sunset will
be witnessed by Central Government, State Government and Senior Defence officials at Coast
Guard Jetty. The ceremony will culminate with presenting of ships decommissioning crest to the
Commander, Coast Guard Region (East) by the respective Commanding Officers.

Sri Tridandi Ramachandra Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami of Sri Bhashyakara Peetham (Bhimavaram) initiating the procedure for Sri Mahalakshmi Yagam scheduled on March 29 here in Vizag. As part of the activities, Swamiji will start Bhiksha (pada) yatra from the Nrisimha swamy temple, Bheemili on January 16. After conducting special rituals at the temple, swamiji will start his pada yatra in the town for the next two days, followed by Sagarnagar, Visakhakshi Nagar, Dayal nagar, Police quarters on Jan 18. Boudha mela on Jan 16 at Bojjannakonda
Visakha District Boudhula Samakhya is organising a Baudha mela on January 16 at Bojjannakonda near Anakapalle, according to Mr. B. Venu Gopal, its convenor. Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, he said, the three day session will be commenced from Jan 14, the first two days, there would be regular prayers by the Buddist monks from various parts of the country. The Boudha Mela will begin by 9 am and continued 5 pm on Jan 16. Badhantapanya Lokathero of Assam sect, Sakyaputra Dhamma Mitrabanthey and others will deliver special lectures on the occasion, he added. During the course, students will be given training. He further stated that archealogical department should protect the Budhist culture and heritage. About 340 places were identified in the State that were releated to Budhism, of which only 115 locations were recognised, he added.

MOU SIGNED FOR NEW WATER RESORVOIR
RINL- Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has entered into an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with M/s Central Design Organisation (CDO), a state govt organization for design of proposed reservoir at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to further meet the requirement of expansion of the plant.
The MOU was signed by Sri MS Sudhakar, ED (Projects) and Sri B Lakshnama Kumar, CE, CDO today at VSP.
The storage capacity of the new reservoir shall be approximately 14 Million Cum and built over an area of 200 acres opposite to the present Kanithi Balancing Reservoir (KBR). The capacity of the proposed reservoir nearly as existing KBR but constructed in 1/3 area. Soil investigation completed and Dam Breach & Resonance Induced studies are in the advanced stage of completion. Geological Survey of India was engaged by VSP for Geotechnical Investigation.
The existing canal shall be extended up to new reservoir and a lift pump house provided to lift water above canal level into reservoir is also used for rain water harvesting during rainy season. The reservoir is slated for commissioning by December 2014.

CANCER DETECTION CAMP AT ISLAMPETA
The first cancer detection camp through the recently launched "Sanjeevan" was organised at Islampeta on 11th January 2012 for the benefit of the surrounding villagers. A large number of men and women have availed the facility and the programme was widely appreciated by one and all.
Sri R Shankar, GM (CSR), Shri AV Ranganatha, DGM (F&A) from VSP and Ln. DVS Raju, Managing Trustee, Ln. V Vijaya Kumar Raju, Trustee, doctors from District Lions Cancer Hospital and Visakha Steel General Hospital were present at the camp. The function was also attended by the large number of public and people’s representatives.
It may be recalled that a State-of-the-Art Mobile Cancer Detection Unit "Sanjeevan" equipped with modern clinical, diagnostic and other systems for early detection of cancer, was dedicated to the Society under aegis of RINL, VSP’s CSR initiatives in partnership with Lions Cancer Hospital, Visakhapatnam very recently. The Mobile clinic is the first of its kind available in Visakhapatnam Region.
There are 180 people attended for medical tests, among which 70 male, 100 female and 10 children. Mammography, ultrasound, x-ray and blood tests were conducted with the state-of-the- art equipment available in the mobile clinic. 2 suspected cases of Cancer were referred to Lions Cancer Hospital for further treatment.
The mobile cancer detection unit, which is fully financed by RINL, VSP under its CSR initiatives will serve the Lions Cancer Hospital to conduct mobile cancer detection camps in the remote areas in and around Visakhapatnam to identify early cancer symptoms for subsequent treatment.

CM's tour to Aruku cancelled due to Bad Weather
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday cancelled his visit to Araku valley due to unfavourable weather conditions. . As per schedule, he was suppose to visit Aruku by Helicopter to attend the Tribal programmes and the three day training programme for first time MLAs along with speaker Nadendla Manohar. After three trials, the weather officials advised the Chief Minister to cancel his visit, However following the advice, the Chief Minister cancelled the visit after waiting anxiously for two hours at the airport. He said , he would visit Araku valley soon to know their problems and actual conditions in the agency areas. Later speaking to newsmen at the airport, Mr. Reddy said, Mr. Ganta Srinivas and C. Ramachandraiah may get a berth in the next proposed cabinet expansion under Prajarajyam banner, but when it comes to bauxite mining, this Government should not take any troublesome activities against the resident tribals.

Tollywood actor N. Balakrishna, plans to join politics.He plans to visit Visakhapatnam on 22nd Jan. Before coming to Vizag he plans to install statues of the departed chief minister and his father N T Rama Rao in the Vizag district, according to V. Ramakrishna Babu, MLA- Visakha East. Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, he said, he is ready to resign from his MLA post, if Balakrishna is willing to contest. Balakrishna's visit is an indication of his arrival into direct politics and Vizag is the best place to start a career, he added. During his tour, the statues will be placed at Paderu and Madugula and Peda Waltair . Debut MLAs went for 3-day training to Araku
About 80 MLAs who elected for the first time to the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly went to Araku for a three day training on Monday. This team, headed by Mr. Nadendla Manohar, Speaker of the State Assembly first visited Borra caves, Tribal village, followed by the museum at Araku on the day one. Later they had an interactive session with tribal women at Araku, Mr. Manohar promised to take up discussion on various tribal issues in the Assembly. During the interactive session, only chosen women were given the chance to raise queries and open their views. Keeping in view of protest from various tribal groups and their supporting political parties, district police have deputed more battalions from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and East Godavari to secure this team. Almost all the civil police, reserved police and other AR were securing them. Eviction of slum areas caused tense at GVMC
About 2000 people headed by Dalita Vimukti Murikivadala Sankshema Sangham attacked on Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation on Monday against the decision taken by the Corporation to evict the seven slum areas in the city with a view to make the city as Singapore and Dubai. All of a sudden the activists assembled in the Corporation Chambers and started slogans against Mr. B. Ramanjaneyulu, Commissioner and Mr. P. Janardhana Rao, Mayor. They even damaged the corridor of the corporation. The Central Reserve Protection Force tried to control the situation. Meanwhile, some of the women corporators, one police official, three women constables were injured during the attack. Angered activists throwed stones on the office building and blocked it for about three hours.

The Eastern Naval Command is gearing up for Navy Queen contest 2011 scheduled to be held on 21 Jan 2012. The contest is held as a showstopper event during the Navy Ball, an event which traditionally marks the end of festivities related to the Navy Week. Normally held during the second week of December, the event was rescheduled due to the operational commitments.
The Navy Queen Contest in ENC, during the last few years has been a launching platform for many an aspirants. Notable and the most famous amongst them has been Ms. Parvathy Omanakuttan, Navy Queen, Vizag 2007 who went on to be crowned as Miss India 2008.
The grooming, hairstyling, makeup and choreographing for this years Navy Queen contest will be undertaken by Achala Sachdeva, of Fashion movie fame. The costumes for the finalists will be draped by Swapnil Shinde. ENC has announced prizes worth nearly Rupees One Lakh for the winners. The screening of the contestants by a panel of judges will be done in two phases on 12/13 Jan 12 and on 16/ 17 Jan 12 at the Naval Officers Institute, Visakhapatnam, with the finals of the Contest scheduled to be held during the Navy Ball 2011, on 21 Jan 12.
The contest is open to all ladies of Indian Nationality, in the age group of 18 years &above, married or otherwise. Accident mock drill created sensation in city
Mr. J. Purnachandra Rao, Commissioner of Police congratulated the artists for the extraordinary exhibition on the occasion of a mock drill of road accidents conducted locally as part of the Road Safety Week on the beach road on Saturday. Addressing the public meet after the rally held from YMCA to RK beach, he said, the public should be made aware of the traffic rules and traffic safety. He said people violating the traffic law and rules would be punished and most of the road accidents are caused due to negligence of the safety norms, dangerous overtaking, excessive speed, cell phone driving, lane cutting, jumping of signals, failure to signal, erratic parking.etc., he also advised the parents not to encourage their children for driving without a proper driving licence. He further stated that this show is to create an awareness among the local public. This kind of program is being conducted for the first time, with a slogan " SAFE DRIVING ON ROADS, TAKES US TO SECURED GOALS ", he added. International Seminar "INDIA-2012" Concluded
The eventful 3 day long International Seminar Information Systems Design and Intelligent Applications – 2012 (INDIA – 2012) concluded today at Hotel Novotel, Visakhapatnam.Computer Society of India, Vizag Chapter in collaboration with Vizag Steel organized a massive tree plantation program in A.U. Engg. College campus under the initiative of Sri. AP Choudary, CMD-RINL to show its concern for environment besides Information Technology . Sri P Madhusudan, Vice Chairman, CSI-Vizag and Director (Finance) RINL, along with the Principal In-charge of AU College of Engineering Prof. Ch. V. Ramachandra Murthy participated in the event. Horticulture Show Inaugurated
Sri A P Choudhary, CMD, RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant today inaugurated the colourful Horticulture Show- 2012, organized by Horticulture wing of Town Admn. Department at Dr B R Ambedkar Kalakshetram (CWC-1) in Ukkunagaram. The show is open for the public from tomorrow. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Choudhary said right from beginning VSP is attaching importance to greenery and ‘concern for environment’ is one of the core values of the Company. He said VSP is considered as “A Greens Paradise” in the entire Indian Steel Industry. He said that a huge task is before VSP to plant another 1.4 million tress to reach to 6.3 million in one and half years so as to meet the target of one tree for one ton of steel produced. He expressed his happiness for organizing such shows for encouraging gardening in the residential quarters of the township. Sri Choudhary appealed to the residents of Ukkunagaram to actively involve themselves in promoting horticulture for a healthy pass time and beautifying the township.Sri Umesh Chandra, Director (Operations), Sri Y R Reddy, Director (Personnel), Sri Siddhartha Kumar, CVO participated. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions held on the occasion by CMD, Directors, CVO and union leaders. Horticulture Officers of State Government and retired officers of VSP acted as judges. There is overwhelming response from the residents of Ukkunagaram for the competition. Sri RP Srivastav, DGM (Town Admn) welcomed the gathering and Sri MVR Prasada Rao, AGM (Horticulture) proposed vote of thanks. Senior officers, representatives of SEA and trade unions, associations, VMS members attended the programme and widely appreciated. It is noteworthy to mention that establishing and maintaining green and beautiful surroundings in VSP and Steel Township has been made possible by four Co-operative Societies of displaced persons. The horticulture show attracted large number of residents of Ukkunagaram.

50 Technical Talks at 'INDIA-2012'
‘Information Systems Design and Intelligent Applications (INDIA – 2012)’ an international conference organized by Computer Society of India (CSI) , Vizag chapter in association with Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was went on with 50 technical talks, guest speeches, paper presentations at Hotel Novatel, Visakhapatnam today. Dr. A Lakshman Rao, Director, Trianz & former COO, Wipro talked on “Developing application for cloud environment” and Mr. Ajay Joseph, Director-Public Sector, SMS&P, Microsoft gave a talk on “Behind every silver lining is a cloud”.
Another technical talk on “Wireless & Cloud Computing” was given by Dr. C. S. Rao, President, Reliance Communications. He emphasized on “Next Gen Wireless Broadband & Computing”. Mr. Praveen CBV, Sr Technical Consultant, EMC Data storage systems delivered a talk on “Cloud infrastructure – A Perspective”. Artists to conduct a rally on road safety
About 100 artists of the city will be conducting a rally on Saturday from YMCA to Kali Mata temple along the beach road, announced Mr. Badamgir Sai, a stage artist. Speaking to media persons at VJF Press Club here on Friday, he said to create awareness on road accidents to public these artists will be performing a street show a few accident scenes, amidst the vehicles crushed in the accidents. For the first time in our country, this program is being conducted with a slogan “ Safe driving on roads, takes us to secured goals”, he added. Stating few examples of road accidents, the result of over speed driving, mobile talk drive, overtaking, etc, sometimes smooth riders are meeting the accident when these careless drivers hit them. Police could not control these careless drivers on some occasions and most of the victims were teenagers and women, he said. The rally will be flagged off by Mayor P. Janardhana Rao, Mr. J. Purnachandra Rao, Commissioner of Police and other officials will take part in this awaress camp, he mentioned.

Enthrallling Display By Army And Navy Held At Municipal Stadium
A first of its kind Adventure Display by men from the Indian Army and the Navy was held today, 06 Jan 12 at the Indira Priyadarshini Municipal Stadium (near Port Trust). The Event commemorating the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of Sainik School, Korukonda was spearheaded by the alumni body Association Saikorian, under the aegis of the Southern Command of the Indian Army and the Eastern Naval Command.
The two hour event organized especially for the citizens of the City of Destiny comprised Motor Cycle Riders Display by the Corps of Signals, Parasailing by the Army Ordance Corps, Dog Show by the Army Remount and Veterinary Corps, Sky diving by Marine Commandos and beating the Retreat Ceremony by the Naval Band. Similar events were held at Hyderabad and Vijayawada on 30 Dec 11 and 03 Jan 12 respectively. Lieutenant General K Surendranath, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command (ARTRAC) and the senior-most serving officer of the Saikor fraternity was the Chief Guest at the Event.
Even as it celebrated the 50th year of the existence of the Sainik School, the Event also aimed at providing glimpses of the life in Armed Forces and the adventurous vein that pervades them, thereby creating awareness amongst the youth about the Forces and motivating them to join the Services.

Mega dance festival in city from Jan 8
The Natraj Music and Dance Academy (NMDA) is going to organise a three day dance festival in city from January 8 onwards, according its founder president Mr. Vikram Goud. Addressing the newsmen on Thursday at the poster release ceremony, he said, this is the second International Indian Classical Dance Festival here in Vizag in the name of Bharath Nrityotasav and will be presented at the Kalabharati auditorium. About fifteen professionals from various places from USA, Ukrain, Russia, Dubai etc with exhibit their talent on the dais, he added. CSI: International Conference on ‘INDIA – 2012’ kicks off in the city:
Born out of sheer passion of a handful of IT enthusiasts in the year 1965, the Computer Society of India (CSI) has grown up to a revered organization spanning across different segments of industry and society with 67 chapters, 381 student branches, and more than 70,000 members including famous leaders from various industries, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians.
CSI, Vizag is having more than two decade long history and perhaps the most active chapter among all the CSI Chapters in India with more than 350 active members and 17 vibrant student chapters under its fold and it was rightly adjudged the Regional Best Chapter Award thrice in 2006-07, 2009-10 and 2010-11.
A two-day international conference on ‘Information Systems Design and Intelligent Applications (INDIA – 2012)’, being organized by Computer Society of India, Vizag chapter in association with Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was inaugurated on 5th Jan’12 evening at hotel Novotel, Varun Beach, Visakhapatnam by Vice-Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM Flag officer commanding-in-chief, Eastern Naval Command. Shri M D Agarwal, President, CSI – India was the Distinguished Guests of the evening.
The inaugural function began with the welcome address by Sri P Madhusudan, Vice-Chairman, CSI-Vizag chapter & Director(Finance), RINL. He welcomed all the guests, participants and delegates and said that the seminar will be very useful to all stakeholders from all the section of the globe/society.
He stressed that the importance of IT in corporate governance needs to be given more emphasis and thrust. He explained that the theme ‘Role of India Inc in Global Scenario’ is so chosen that the role of IT in ensuring the accountability of all the stake holders in upbringing the corporation would be emphasized. He added that this conference is meant to bring researchers, engineers, developers, practitioners from academia and industry, to the common platform to share their experience, exchange their ideas and share their views.
He declared that a CEO/CIO Conclave is being organized on 6th as part of the convention with active participation of the CEO’s in the Visakhapatnam city.
The RINL Chairman-Cum-Managing Director, Sri AP Choudhary, in his remarks, said that new strategies should be adopted to face competition in the wake of globalization of economy. He said that the theme of the convention was relevant in the present scenario as only those who can manage resources effectively can survive. “Imaginative use of IT will be fruitful,” he said, expressing confidence that Vizag would be the second IT-enabled Knowledge hub of the country after Bangalore.
He further added that for the first time in the history of Vizag Chapter such a mega International conference is taking place. It is a unique event to attain deep understandings on India’s initiatives, to ensure greater involvement of the Indian IT in globalization process taking place in other parts of the world.
He added that the conference will focus on the latest trends in IT like - Cloud Computing and Virtualization, Android and Mobile Computing , Software Engineering and Tools, Data Ware Housing, Data Mining and Business Performance Management, 3G/4G Communications, Networking and IT Security, e-Governance, MES and Automation etc.

The key-note address on Cloud Computing was delivered by Sri Vamsi Mudiam, IBM, India. About 150 papers will be presented by professionals and experts on various issues/latest technologies.

Vaikunta Ekadasi: Uttara Dwara darshan
Devotees visited the temples on the occasion of Vaikunta Ekadasi. A special Uttara Dwara darshan is provided from the North side, at early hours,on Thursday. in Bhadrachalam ,Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple, Sri Ranganadha temple at Sri Rangam, and other Sri Vaishnava temples. This is the only time of the year the devotees are allowed through this entrance and the belief is one attains Nirvana, i.e. release from the cycle of rebirth after darshan from the North entrance.This festival is on the eleventh day of Dhanurmasam every year (when Sun enters in Dhanush). The deities are decorated with special alankaram and the Utsavar is placed on the Garudalwar, the vehicle of Lord Vishnu.
In Simhachalam, the Uttaradwara darshan started at 5 a.m , Mayor P. Janardhana Rao, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mr. B. Ramanjaneyulu were present to have the unique darshan on Thursday. Large number of devotees from North Andhra districts reached the Simhagiri hills on the Wednesday night itself. Due to this unexpected arrival ,Temple authorities failed to provide proper facilities to the devotees, even on Thursday. The rituals at Vaibhav Venkateswara Swamy temple, Kapparada, began in the early hours and Uttara dwara darshan was very special and the lord Venkateswara Diety was decorated with Viswarupa darshan.
At Tirumala : Authorities of Tirumala Tirupati Devestanams (TTD), MVP Colony issued 2250 tickets for darshan in two denominations especially for Vaikunta Ekadasi. Authorities could not control the rush at Tirumala hills. Devotees had arrived on Wednesday itself, which was not expected . Due to this , VIPs could not have proper darshan on Thursday.
In Tamil Nadu: Vaikunta Ekadasi is one of the major festivals at Sri Ranganatha temple, Srirangam (Tamilnadu). Nalayira Prabandham is recited for twenty one days and Adhyanotsavams are performed. It is an age old belief, from the Ramayana, that Vibhishana, brother of Ravana performs special rituals to the deity here on this auspicious day.

A complete history Vizag released
A complete history on Visakha city in the name of Samagra Visakha Nagara Charitra writted by Mr. Angara Surya Rao was released on Wednesday. According to the noted writer Mr. Kalipatnam Rama Rao (Kara Master), this book comprises heritage, culture and origin of Visakhapatnam. Most of the Vizagites doesn't know the topography and history of it. After been discussed with many Mr. Angara prepared this and is a gift to the citizens, he added. This is a first volume and second to follow. Mr. Angara, the author thanked Mr. Kona Sasidhar, Vice Chairman, Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) for extended support to publish it. Mr. Bhagawan, secretary, VUDA attended the function in the absence of VUDA- VC on this occasion. IT industry demands for better amenities
IT industries in City of Destiny - Vizag demands for better amenities to expand their business in Vizag. Discussing the present situation in Vizag for developing IT industry and withdraw of multi national organisations from Vizag. Mr. Naresh Kumar, CEO of Symbiosis Technologies highlighted the major drawbacks here to the Union Minister of State for Human Resources and Member of Parliament- Visakhapatnam D. Purandheswari on Tuesday. She was invited to their annual session here on Tuesday held at Four Points Hotel. During his speech he mentioned their demands and needs viz. International Air Connectivity, BSNL services, public transportation to Rushikonda IT hub, etc. This city comes under tier 2 city and the second highest IT revenue generator after Hyderabad in the State. The total revenue generated in this State is Rs. 36,000 Crores of which 35 thousand only from Hyderabad and remaining from rest of the State, he announced. This is because of non availability of proper amenities and International Organisations like Microsoft, IBM and others were going back by conducting primilinary surveys here. If this city provided with all the amenities and infrastructure this city can equally compete with Hyderabad, Mr. Naresh opined. Responding to the demands from IT industries, the Union Minister said, that she will look after the matter and discuss with the concerned Ministry to get more benefits to Vizag. Mr. Vishnu Kumar Raju, President -Rishikonda IT Valley, Mr. Peter, President- Visakha IT Association, Mr. M. Srinivasa Rao, MLA- Bheemili and others spoke on the occasion.

All party meet for Spl railway zone
Keeping in view of various aspects, Visakhapatnam needs special railway zone stressed, Minister of State for Human Resource, and sitting MP, D. Purandheswari. Addressing the all party interaction session conducted by Visakha Railway Zone Sadhana Samithi in this regard, she pointed out the negligence of the Bureaucrats at the Railway Board for non allocating the better prospects to Vizag. She referred her discussions with Railway Ministers and Railway Board Chairman for protecting the Vizag's benefits, she couldn't received a proper response from the Ministry and Board as well. After being discussed with the present Railway Minister, Mr. Dwivedi, she requested the local representation from all parties to join her while meeting the Minister in the second week, this month. She mentioned, the difficulties that are faced by this region youth, while they are travelled towards Bhubaneswar which is a headquarters for East Coast Railway Zone in which Waltair Division is a part. These people were manhandled by local Orisha people which Andhrites go for a Railways written test or for interview, she pointed out. Mentioned various demands for special zones including Nandhed division which is a part of South Central Railways.
Mr. JV Satyanarana Murthy (CPI), President Vizag Special Railway Zone Sadhana Samithi, congratulated Purandheswari for her effort towards the achievement and called for the unity in this regard. He demanded the Union Goverment to merge the Waltair Railway Division into South Central Railway, whose headquarters is at Secunderabad to get more benefit to Vizag and its North Andhra region. Mr. M. Srinivas MLA- Bheemili, Mr. Dronamraju Srinivas, MLA- Visakha South, Mr. C.S. Rao, founder president Praja Spandana, Mr. Nagendra, City President Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr. V. Search and Rescue by Indian Navy
The Coast of Visakhapatnam was kept on high alert in view of the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Thane prevalent in the Southwest Bay of Bengal and the fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea. However, few fishermen unaware of the prevailing danger who were at sea were missing for the past 48 hours. A message in this regard from the District Administration was received by the Eastern Naval Command. Indian Navy immediately swung into action and a Dornier flight was launched early in the morning to locate the boats and missing fishermen.
Despite the rough weather and poor visibility conditions, the aircrew were successful in locating a capsized boat off Narsapur around 220 Km from Visakhapatnam. Upon ascertaining the location of the capsized boat a Helicopter from INS Dega was launched immediately and braving the gale force winds of 70 to 80 Kmph the helo managed to hover on the site of incident and rescued six survivors. On the return leg to Vizag the helo received a RT call from Yanam Radio regarding assistance to a trawler with survivors. With low clouds, visibility lowering to less than 300 mts and approaching rain the aircraft changed course to assist the trawler and rescued additional five surivors.
All the eleven survivors were given initial first aid by the station medical officer at INS Dega before handing over to the civil administration. The search for any possible missing boats and fishermen is still on.

Temples getting ready for Uttaradwara Darshan
Temples in the city are getting ready for Vaikunta Ekadasi which will be celebrated on January 4. As part of the Sri Vaishna tradition, the eleventh day of Pushyamasam will have a unique speciality in a year. The North gate at all the temples will remain open on this day. Authroties of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha temple, Simhachalam are providing special queue lines, additional ticket and prasad counters. Darshan will begin by 4.30 am onwards for the devotees. It is a special occasion, Suprabhata seva will be replaced by Tiruppavai pasura recitation. Devotees can have Uttaradwara darshan at all the Vaishnava temples including Vaibhav Venkateswara- Kapparada, Venkateswara temple- Port area, Emberumannar temple- old town, Venugopala temple- Akkayyapalem etc. Recitation of Vedas, Bhagavadgita, Vishnu Sahasranamam, will be done throughout darshan. Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam issued 2250 tickets for this darshan at its counter in MVP Colony last week.

He was received on arrival by Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, AVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command. The Honorable Minister is scheduled to depart Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, 03 Jan 12.

Jr docs stops all services at KGH
Medical services at King George Hospital came to a standstill with junior doctors going on an ‘indefinite’ strike on Saturday to press for release of stipend. There held up all complete activities including emergency services, as they started the strike on the 19th of this month. They exhibited their protest by cleaning roads, begging, forming human chain and rasta roko etc., what not to get the attention of the Government, before they remove their steth. The young doctors comprising postgraduate students, house staff and interns demanded release their stipend which was due for the past four months. They continued their protest even on rain on Saturday. Meanwhile, patients at the KGH suffered a lot for the past few days, as the Jr docs were off the field. Most of the out patients were back, KGH officials failed to substitute medical attendance.
