INS Car Nicobar and INS Chetlat, first in the class
of Water Jet Propelled Fast Attack Craft (FACs) of the Indian Navy
were commissioned on 16th February, 2009, by the Honourable Governor
of Tamil Nadu, His Excellency Shri Surjit Singh Barnala, at a
colourful ceremony held at Chennai. Vice Admiral Nirmal Verma, Flag
Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command and Rear Admiral (Retd)
KC Sekhar, Chief Managing Director, GRSE were present on the occasion.

Akkayyapalem their home. So good was the hospitality that they

NAVY CHILDREN SCHOOL CELEBRATES ANNUAL DAY |

Navy Children School celebrated its Annual Day with great fervour on Friday, 06 Feb 09. The theme of the event was ‘Mehek’, meaning fragrance. Vice Admiral Nirmal
Verma, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command was the chief Guest on the occasion and Mrs. Madhulika Verma the Guest of
Honour. The Principal NCS, Mr. Sanath Kumar presented the Annual Report highlighting the mission and vision of the school with an impressive slide show.
The guests were received in the foyer by the children portraying themselves as flitting butterflies, aptly going with the theme of the evening. The cultural programme included a choir ‘Mehakeyen Gulsahan sara’, a prayer dance ‘Saraswathi Vandana’, a professionally choreographed folk number from Garhwal titled ‘Rhuum Jhuma’ and a scintillating fusion dance, in addition to a hilarious English play, ‘Loyala’s Dilemma’.
Students who had excelled in academic and co-curricular activities received Prizes from the Guest of Honour, Mrs. Madhulika Verma, and the entire evening resounded with applause of the audience who thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the beautifully woven programme. |
