The Home Minister of
the State, Mr. K. Jana Reddy who was here to lay the foundation stone for
Visakha Regional Police Hospital at the City Police Lines on the 25th of July
2005 appreciated Visakhapatnam Police for exceptional handling of law and order
in the district. The Home Minister gave an assurance that he would try his
best to bring down the crime rate and the incidence of road accidents
in the state. |

The Director General of
Police, Mr. Swaranjit Sen, Visakha-I MLA Mr. D. Satyanarayana, Pendurthi
MLA Mr. T. Gurumurthy Reddy and the Commissioner of Police Mr. VSK. Kaumudi were present at the ceremony.
The 16 bed Visakha Regional Police Hospital would be built at
around an estimated cost of Rs.60 lakhs. |

Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha
member and Chairman of Organising Committee for ONGC Cup-2005 Mr. N.
Janardhana Reddy addressing the media at Port Trust Rajiv Gandhi Indoor
Stadium on the 23rd July, 2005. Mr. Reddy who was instrumental in bringing
this mega sporting event to Vizag expressed his satisfaction over the pace of
arrangements. He said that the success of this tournament will prove Vizag's
capability to hold any international sporting event. In charge of this event
Kodanda Ramaiah, former MLA Ganababu, VUDA Chairman, P.S.N. Raju were also
seen.

'Vollibob', the mascot for ONGC Cup-2005 or 13th World Men's Under-21 Volleyball Championship to be held in Vizag from 6th August to 14th August, 2005 was released by the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha member Mr. N. Janardhan Reddy at Ramakrishna Beach on the 22nd of July, 2005. Visakha-I MLA Mr. D. Satyanarayana, Municipal Commissioner, N. Srikanth, Joint Collector Sandeep Kumar Sultania and others were present. The mascot was designed by the local designer Mr. J. Nagi Reddy.

Rajsekhar, a parent who accompanied his child to the book store feels that "Harry Potter" series has rekindled the reading habit among the children.

The District Collector Mr. Praveen Prakash, inaugurating GYANDOOT, a District Information Call Centre at Net Savant premises on the 16th of July, 2005. The Joint Collector Mr. Sandeep Kumar Sultania is also seen.
The Collector giving details of Gyandoot, said that now people can get
specific information about various programmes started by the government and
the administration can also get regular feed back by making out-bound
calls.

The Indonesian Cargo Vessel, MV Jin An which ran aground near Vizag harbour on the wee hours of 30th July,
2005 is still trapped in the shallow waters. Efforts were on for last three
days by the Port Trust authorities to re-float the ship.
