Vaastu means energy. Vaastu Sastra is the science of energy force fields and their effects. It comprises all known and unknown energy systems of geological, biological and cosmic origin. The word Vaastu is derived from Sanskrit: ‘vaas’ that means place occupied by man and ‘Vastava’ that means natural order. The natural order of every object is energy. This energy becomes kinetic or conscious by polarization. The nucleus of kinetic energy is therefore bi-polar in nature, which emits energy waves from its positive pole and receives energy waves from its negative pole. Thus an energy force field (EFF) is created around it. There are innumerable energy force fields around us, and our EFF spontaneously interacts with each surrounding EFF. A living system survives by continuous intake of energy – from air, heat, magnetism, energy radiated by the sun and other planets, water, plant kingdom, mineral kingdom etc. Vaastu Sastra, in essence, is a science dealing with these energy force fields, and their spontaneous interaction with us. If that EFF is positive, then it is supplements our energy. Otherwise it has a tendency to deplete our life force. Vaastu Sastra prescribes positive EFF for homes and work place.


The 10 Commandments of Vaastu :

  1. The main or water source or water feature should be towards Northeast.

  2. The kitchen, generator room, furnace or boiler should be towards the Southeast.

  3. The guest room, store or children's bedroom should be towards Northwest.

  4. The master bedroom or CEO's office should be towards the Southwest.

  5. The centre should be light and airy.

  6. There should be more open space towards the North and East as compared to the South and West.

  7. The South and West floor levels should be higher than the North and East.

  8. The Southwest boundary wall should be higher than the North and East walls.

  9. The entrance is preferred from the North or East.

  10. You should sleep with your head towards the South and the raise the head side by three inches.
