Priyam Tated, 15-year-old city boy has been selected to participate in Artistic Skating World Championships to be held in La Vendee. France, from October 3 to 13. Of the seven skaters selected from India, Priyam Tated is the only one from Andhra Pradesh. A total of 1,500 skaters from 35 countries are participating in the sports event. As per Indian team coach P Satyanarayan Priyam, who regularly practises in Shivaji Park Skating Rink, has bright chances to make it to the podium and create history.
Priyam, a class X student at Sri Chaitanya School, started skating since 2006 from the age of three and he received his first medal in 2007. Inspired by his international-level skater sister Divya Tated, Priyam and his brother took to skating since early childhood. Priyam has already secured 56 medals, including six international medals, 23 national medals, 14 state-level and district level medals. Among the 56, 25 are gold, 18 are silver and 13 are bronze medals.
Priyam has played in the 18th Asian Roller Skating Championships 2018 held at Namwon, Korea, Asian Open Figure skating Championship 2018 held at Bangkok, secured gold medal in 2018 Cambodia National Figure Skating Championship and bronze medal in Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy in Hong Kong, silver medal in 17th Asian Roller Skating Championship in 2016 held in China, gold medal in Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy 2016 held at Manila, Philippines, silver medal in 11th Malaysia Open National Figure Skating Championship and bronze medal in ISU World Development Trophy heldat Malaysia in 2015.
The six other skaters selected from India include Bhavita Bhavin Madhu, Khushi Chirag Patel, Mishri Utkarsha Parikh, Kairavei Falguni Thakkar, Vacasya Nagula Lakshmi Narayanan and Abhijith Amal Raj.
