The city is all set to host the All India SAI Inter-Regional Volleyball Championship and Andhra Pradesh State Sub-Junior Inter-District Volleyball Championship at the newly built indoor stadium at ZP High School, Gopalapatnma from October 11 to 14.
Both the events will be organised by Visakhapatnam District Volleyball Association (VDVA) under the aegis of Andhra Pradesh Volleyball Association (APVA).
"For the first time, the Sports Authority of India inter-regional volleyball championship will be organised. Teams (both boys and girls) from SAI regional centres in Bengaluru, Kerala, Lucknow, Soniput , Chandigarh, Kolkata, Gandhi Nagar (Gujarat), Mumbai, Bhopal and Army Boys sports Company will take part in the four-day championship," APVA president and MLA P.G.V.R. Naidu (Ganababu) told the media here on Sunday.
The teams from all the thirteen districts in Andhra Pradesh will also participate in the AP sub-Junior inter-district volleyball championship at the same venue. Around 800 players will participate and 100 officers will conduct these mega-events. The organising committee is putting in efforts to organise these events in a grand way, he added.
"It is a prelude for allotment of more events to the new indoor stadium," said Mr. Naidu.
