Enthusiasm marks Olympic Day run:

Nearly 2,000 sportspersons participated in the Olympic Day run held on the beach road here on Tuesday.
Collector and Chairman of District Sports Authority N. Yuvaraj, who flagged off the run at Kali temple, said such programmes would inspire the budding sportspersons. All sports associations participating in the run was a pleasant sight, he said.
MLA and former volleyball international P.V.G.R. Naidu said the State government was supporting sports in a big way. So many sports associations participating in the event was a healthy sign for sports in the district, he noted.
President of the Olympic Association Visakhapatnam T.S.R. Prasad presided. Secretary M. Syambabu, vice-president of Volleyball Federation of India and chairman of O.A.V.S. Kodandaramiah, Registrar of Andhra University V. Umamaheswara Rao, MD of CMR group M. Venkata Ramana, office-bearers of all sports associations, former Olympian M.V. Manikyalu, Dronacharya award winners E. Prasada Rao (kabaddi) and I. Venkateswara Rao (boxing) and others participated.

The run was held from Kali temple to the YMCA junction where the Olympic association felicitated national and international players of the past and present and senior coaches.
