He has played a few games including kabaddi, but after watching the Pro Kabaddi League on television that lifted the Indian traditional game to a new high and large acceptance in the urban areas, promoted Daggubati Rana to be the brand ambassador for Telugu Titans, one of the eight franchisees of PKL.
The Telugu film star gained nation-wide attention thanks to his role Bhalladeva in the megahit of Rajamouli, ‘Bahubali’ and is promoting Titans.
He dabbled in many games and was serious with some like boxing at the school which he left after suffering an injury. “I am a great fan of Mike Tyson and Mohammed Ali and would collect T shirts with their images”, Rana said before Sunday’s matches at the Port Indoor Stadium.
He used to play cricket also very well. Tennis star Sania Mirza and Rana live in the same colony and the colony people would celebrate every victory of Sania, he said.
On doing a negative role in ‘Bahubali’, Rana said he accepted it because it was a powerful role. Great actor like NTR has also played the roles of Ravana and Duryodhana, he reminded. Rana wants to do a film on the legendary Kodi Ramamurthy Naidu. “I have a great regard for him because he brought great fame to the country,” Rana said.
Rana was the guest of the day at the arena and led the stadium in singing the National Anthem before the start of first match between Jaipur Pink Panther and U Mumba.Owner of U Mumba Neetu Ambani was present for the days match and cheered her team. The stadium is full again and the two reams were loudly cheered as they entered the arena.
