AP State Open Bridge Championship – 2014 was Inaugurated by Dr.GBS Prasad, Director(Personnel) RINL-VSP on 23.08.2014 in Ukkunagaram Club. The event is being organized by Ukknagaram Club in association with Visakhapatnam District Bridge Association & Andhra Pradesh State Bridge Association from 23rd to 25th August 2014. The Ukkunagaram Club with 1600 members is actively involved in organizing major Sports events along with entertainment programs at the highest level. AP State Open Bridge Championship commenced in the year 2009 with 30 participants.

In his address, Dr. GBS Prasad expressed his happiness in seeing many Bridge players from various States taking part in the event. He said that Bridge is a highly intellectual game which is played by wise people. The game also requires good amount of thinking and patience. He assured the gathering that VSP would continue to support the game of Bridge in future as well.

This year, 250 participants have come from all over the country including Bhubhaneswar, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore apart from Andhra Pradesh. Many of the participants are senior citizens who have decades of experience in the game of Bridge.

Sri JV Rao, Secretary Ukkunagaram Club delivered the welcome address.

Dr. A Narayana Rao, Vice President, AP State Bridge Association, Sri C Srinivasa Rao, Secretary AP State Bridge Association, Sri K Satyanarayana, Secretary, Vizag District Bridge Association, Sri MS Kumar, AGM(Sports) and Sri SRL Subramanyam, AGM(Per) have also participated in the programme.
