Probably in a first-of its-kind case, a married woman poured acid on another woman, who was planning to marry her former boyfriend. at Abidnagar, here on Wednesday morning.
According to the police, Y. Swapna was a married woman and her former boyfriend, B. Satyanarayana Reddy, got engaged to Ch. Rajani. Not liking the marriage to take place, Swapna hatched a plan to disfigure the face of Rajani by pouring acid, so that the marriage would break up, according to the complaint filed by Rajani.
On Wednesday, Swapna went Prabhu Cool Point, an ice cream shop owned by Rajani, posing herself as a customer, and threw acid on her face. Rajani escaped with minor burns as the acid was low in concentration.
Following a complaint, the Fourth Town Inspector arrested Swaptna. Rajani was undergoing treatment at KGH.
