A 23-year-old unmarried woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence here on Monday morning.
A resident of Balayya Sastry layout near Fourth Town Police station, the woman who was the daughter of a coconut seller, was supposed to get married to Kartik, who works in the Army.
The engagement also was formalised about six months ago.
Being a degree holder, she was working with a private company as a computer operator near Muralinagar.
According to the Fourth Town Police, the would-be groom was stalking her for the last couple of months and even questioned her character. Unable to bear the harassment, the engagement was called off about a month ago. But despite that Kartik continued his harassment.
Vexed with his attitude the woman took the extreme step, said the police. Basing on a complaint filed by the parents of the woman, the police took Kartik into custody for questioning. The investigation is on.
