Six arrested on racing charge:

Six youngsters, all engineering and MBA graduates, from Visakhapatnam city were arrested on Sunday in a joint operation by special police teams from Bhogapuram and Denkada police stations of Vizianagaram, near Nathavalasa, for indulging in high-speed car and bike racing on the National Highway, between Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam.

According to the police, the six-member racers started the race from Yendada in Visakhapatnam at around 6 a.m. and reportedly went up to Ranasthalam in Srikakulam district and took a U-turn to return to Visakhapatanam. On their return leg, they were arrested by the police team near Nathavalasa in Vizianagaram district.
It is reported that they zipped down the NH at speeds varying from 120 to 130 kmph, causing inconvenience to other drivers.
The arrested were identified as Y. Chaitanya (23), M. Ravi Teja (24), K. Vamsi (23), G. Ashok (29), G. Ajith Kumar (29) and R. Raj Kumar (26). The police also seized five racing bikes and a car.
Complaints received
According to the police, the racers have been indulging in racing since last few weeks and they have received a number of complaints, from various quarters. The police booked cases of negligent driving against the racers.
