Two persons on a motorcycle and wearing helmets snatched a bag containing Rs. 5 lakh from a 50-year-old man near the Old Jail Road area on Thursday. Ch. Subrahmanyam, a builder and resident of the Pendurthi area, and his relative Ch. Srivali had come to the SBI Jail Road Branch to deposit a cheque for Rs. 5 lakh. Thereafter, they withdrew Rs. 5 lakh. Later, they walked towards the RTC Complex area. While Mr. Subrahmanyam was waiting in front of a BPO office, Mr. Srivali had gone to a nearby place on some work.
The miscreants approached Mr. Subrahmanyam from behind and sped away soon after the pillion rider snatched the cash bag.
Following a complaint, ACP (East) D.N. Mahesh and Two Town Inspector Kalyani reached the spot with the CLUES team and also examined the CCTV footage at the bank.
A similar incident took place a few days ago.
