One arrested in call money case:

One Town Police on Wednesday arrested Yarabati Srinivasa Rao, a resident of Allipuram, who was allegedly involved in a call money racket.
As per the police, Vasetti Atchayya, a resident of Dhoodavari Veedhi in the Old Town area and an employee of Dock Labour Board (DLB), had borrowed Rs. 1.05 lakh from Srinivasa Rao at a high interest rate. In return, the victim on demand had given three empty blank cheques, one promissory note and his ATM card.
Every month, the accused would withdraw a part of the principal amount with interest from the bank account of the victim, using the ATM card. In the process, he had withdrawn to the tune of Rs. 2 lakh over a period of time. But despite having withdrawn that amount, the accused demanded that still Rs. 90,000 was pending and threatened the victim with dire consequences if it was not cleared at an early date, said One Town Inspector Srinivasa Rao.
Unable to bear the harassment, Atchayya lodged a police complaint and based on the information, the police arrested Yarabati Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday. Apart from Atchayya, five other victims — Muthu Appala Swamy, Kantumuchu Giri Kumar, Lagudu Barika Jaya Ram, Thalari Janaki Rao and Bondi Appa Rao — lodged complaints with the One Town Police.

The police also seized three ATM cards, seven promissory notes, six blank cheques and one house document belonging to various victims from the residence of the accused.
