Nigerian caught trying to smuggle ganja:

For the first time, a foreigner was caught by the City Task Force (CTF) for trying to smuggle dry ganja, here on Friday.
The foreigner was identified as Ikechukwu Augustine (23), a resident of Nigeria, who had reportedly come to India about a year ago on tourist visa and was living in Hyderabad.
According to CTF Assistant Commissioner of Police I. Chittibabu, the Nigerian had come to Visakhapatnam along with another Nigerian friend and a man from Hyderabad about six months ago.
“They visited Araku and had come in contact with one Raju. At that time they smuggled about 50 kg of dry ganja. Later, a couple of months ago, Augustine had reportedly come alone and again smuggled about 50 kgs. This was his third attempt,” said the ACP.
According to the police, the Nigerian has established contacts in the interiors parts of the Agency areas such as Paderu, Sileru and G. Madugula.
On Friday, Augustine boarded a bus from Paderu after procuring the ganja and was caught while alighting at APSRTC Complex in Visakhapatnam.
“We had him under surveillance and nabbed him on Friday. He was carrying about 32 kgs of dry ganja,” said Mr. Chittibabu.
The ganja was bought by the Nigerian at a cost of about Rs. 3,000 per kg in the Agency area and he was reportedly selling it at a price between Rs. 5,000 to 7,000 per kg in Hyderabad. “There appears to be a gang in this racket. We have handed over the case to the Special Branch for further investigation,” said the ACP.
The ACP officials also arrested two others from Gnannapuram area for smuggling the contraband weed. The arrested were identified as Supermani (29) and Suresh (25), both residents of New Delhi.
The police also seized about 26 kgs of ganja from their possession. The smugglers confessed that the ganja fetches them about Rs. 10,000 per kg in Delhi.
