Mystery shrouds the death of a 55-year-old woman, whose body was found near a pool in Lankelapalem area under Parwada Police Station limits, here on Tuesday.
According to the police, S. Lakshmi, a daily wager from Lankelapalem area, had gone missing since Monday evening and the locals found her body near a pool on Tuesday morning.
The police are yet to ascertain whether it was a case of murder for gain, as the half-tola gold ornament that she was wearing was missing, or it was a case of rape and murder as the body was found with no clothes on. The police also recovered a knife and a farming sickle close to the body. According to the police, the deceased had gone to a nearby isolated place to gather some wood for cooking on Monday evening and didn’t return till night.
The family members searched for her all night. On Tuesday morning, some of the locals found Lakshmis body lying near a pool, and intimated the police and her family members. Police reached the spot with the clues team and dogs squad. According to the police, there were some marks on her body. The body was shifted for post-mortem, a case has been registered and investigation is on.
