MVP police arrested two youth for stealing money from ATMs to the tune of 4.92 lakh in the city on Tuesday evening. The accused were nabbed with the help of CCTV footage at the centre.
They accused were identified as Swapnil Singh alias Ashu (22) of Bodarwar village in Kushinagar ditrict of Uttar Pradesh and Satyarth Mishra (20) of Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, ACP T Ramachandra Rao said cops found that both the accused used fake ATM cards and a duplicate key to take out the money. They took away money from the ATM at Gandhi Cancer Hospital near Rythu Bazaar from June 24 to 28 during the night. During interrogation, the youth revealed that they learnt the process of stealing money from ATMs through Youtube.
The difference of money was noticed by the custodian of the ATM centre. This ATM centre was outsourced by Deibold Systems Private Limited. The cash loading officers G Eswara Rao and R Manikanta loaded 8 lakh cash on June 23.
They submitted administration slips as proof of loading to the company. They again went for loading of cash on June 28 and found the difference of 4.82 lakh in one machine and 10,000 in another machine and immediately informed the higher authorities.
