‘Kidnapped’ boy rescued:

A nine-year-old boy, a student of class IV, who was allegedly kidnapped by an unidentified person on Tuesday evening, was traced by the police on Wednesday morning.

The boy, Vamsi Krishna, son of Govind Rao who works as a driver in a private company, was playing with a friend near his house at Indira Nagar in Gopalpatnam area on Tuesday evening. The two reportedly asked a motorcyclist for a lift. The motorcyclist obliged and after travelling some distance one of the boys got down, while Vamsi wanted to go a little farther.

According to North Sub-Division ACP Bhima Rao, the unknown motorcyclist took the boy to his home in Pendurthi area and confined the boy for a night. In the morning he left the home by locking up the boy inside. In the meanwhile, the victim’s father lodged a complaint at the Gopalpatnam police station. Basing on the complaint, the police launched a hunt on Tuesday night.

In the morning, seeing the door locked from outside, Vamsi Krishna called out the neighbour Rambabu, and from his cell phone called up his father.

The police immediately moved in and broke open the door and rescued the boy.

The motive of the kidnapper was yet to be established and the person was absconding.
