IMU student injured in ‘attack’ by roommate:

A final year B. Tech (Naval Architecture) student of Indian Maritime University (IMU) at Malkapuram was attacked and injured allegedly by his roommate in the early hours of Thursday.
N. Vishal Choudhary was attacked allegedly by his junior Abhishek, a third year B. Tech student and native of Bihar, for lodging a complaint against him.
Vishal’s father Ramji said that his son had been facing problems with his roommate. He had even submitted a letter to the IMU Director seeking a change of room. However, the director ignored his plea and asked him to either continue in the same room or stay in an asbestos shed in the IMU.
Ramji said that he had written letters to IMU Vice- Chancellor, Union Minister for Shipping Nitin Gadkari, and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
On instructions from the Chief Minister, District Collector N. Yuvaraj wrote a letter to the IMU Director two weeks ago, asking him to conduct an inquiry and submit a report.

“On coming to know that Vishal had lodged a complaint against him, Abhishek tried to strangle Vishal in his room on Wednesday night. Vishal managed to escape and called me,” Ramji said. “I picked up my son from the IMU campus and tried to lodge a complaint against Abhishek but the police advised me to first admit Vishal in a hospital and obtain a Medico Legal Case (MLC) report. Now, I am seeking the support of the police to send my son to the university as Abhishek may attack my son again, he added.
