A man broke into a house at Seethammadhara, near Alluri Sitaramaraju statue, in the wee hours of Thursday and made good with about 500 gm of gold.
The accused climbed up the two-storey house using the sewage pipes and gained entry into the house of one Venkata Narasimha Raju through the kitchen door as the owners forgot to lock it.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) S. Varada Raju, the accused later entered the bedroom and opened the cupboard, as the keys were kept close by, and made good with the gold ornaments.
The inmates woke up when they heard some noises in the kitchen. By the time they could react, the burglar jumped from the balcony and fled the place.
