Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao’s car was allegedly involved in an accident here on Monday afternoon.
The Minister was going towards Tuni after attending a Janmabhoomi programme at a village in Yelamanchili, when his car hit a couple travelling on a motorbike, from behind, near Somanapalem village on the National Highway.
Both were seriously injured. The injured have were identified as A. Satyanarayana (45), an RMP doctor at Dosuru village in Atchutapuram mandal, and his wife A. Laxmi (40).
There are two versions to the incident. While one claims that the convoy did not stop and the Minister called ZP Chairman Lalam Bhavani to take care of the injured, the second says that the minister’s convoy did stop and the Minister called up local leader and municipal chairman Ramakumari to arrange for immediate shifting of the couple to a hospital for treatment.
It is reported that the couple was shifted to hospital in RDO’s vehicle.
The couple was first moved to Yelamanchili area hospital and later shifted to KGH in Visakhapatnam for further treatment, based on the seriousness of the case.
