Excise enforcement wing led by Assistant Commissioner T Srinivas seized 200 kg of ganja from two cars and arrested five drug-peddlers, including a Tamilian by name Kennedy near Guttulaput area under Paderu mandal in the Agency area of Visakhapatnam district on Thursday.
According to the excise officials, the smugglers had procured the contraband from various parts of Paderu and Pedabayalu area and were transporting the stuff to Tamil Nadu in two cars, which were being followed by two smugglers on bikes.
Acting on a tip-off, official intercepted the bikes and cars near Guttulaput and recovered the narcotic substance and they also seized the bikes and cars. The seized contraband is worth around Rs15 lakh. The smugglers were arrested under Section 20 (B) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the investigation is on.
