The enforcement wing of Prohibition and Excise department seized about 614 kgs of dry ganja and arrested three persons who were trying to smuggle the weed in a van, at Bora Junction in Anantagiri mandal in the Agency area of Visakhapatnam district on Monday.
The arrested were T. Naresh and D. Nazir from Warangal and M. Raju from Karimnagar.
According to Ch. V.S. Prasad, Circle Inspector, Enforcement, the trio had procured the stuff from an interior village in Hukumpeta and were trying to ferry it to Hyderabad in a specially fabricated box over the driver’s cabin.
The ganja was neatly packed in 307 packets of 2 kg each.
All the arrested were booked under NDPS Act.
