Fake currency notes of the face value of Rs.7.89 lakh were seized from a passenger at Visakhapatnam Railway Station by officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Visakhapatnam Regional unit, on Thursday.
The passenger was travelling by the Guwahati-Bengaluru super fast express when he was caught by the DRI sleuths. The accused had admitted during the course of interrogation that the fake Indian currency notes (FICN) were smuggled from Bangladesh and he was transporting them to Bengaluru for delivery to some others, according to the DRI officials. The seized notes were in the denominations of Rs.1,000 and Rs.500. The DRI officials seized the fake notes.
