The Fourth Town police on Monday night arrested a couple on the charges of duping people by collecting money in the name of chits at Akkayapalem area of the city.
The arrested were identified as M. Satya Rao and his wife M. Ammaji, both residents of Akkayapalem.
According to the police, the couple had duped over 100 gullible depositors and fled with after collecting between Rs. 10 crore and Rs. 15 crore. They were absconding since last December.
Four other family members of Satya Rao who helped the couple in the business are yet to be nabbed. According to Inspector of Police, Fourth Town, Balakrishna, most of the victims were from Atchutapuram.
