The city police have arrested seven persons in connection with the murder of Mohammaed Khasim (45), a rowdy-sheeter who was hacked to death by his rival gang (Merugu Chittibabu alias Chittimamu) near LIC Building under Two-Town police station limits in Vizag city on August 2 night. The police have recovered one country-made firearm with two live rounds, sharp-edged weapons and chilli powder from the gang. The arrested were identified as Merugu Chitti Babu alias Chitti Mamu (42), Ambati Madhusudhana Rao (26) and Seelam Satish (23) all were rowdy-sheeters, Gudla Vinod Kumar Reddy (26), Sayyed Rehan (24), Choppa Hemanth Kumar (23) and Gathada Srinivasu (22). City police chief Mahesh Chandra Laddha said that gang rivalry and deep-rooted revenge were the main motives behind the killing of Khasim, who was leading a gang of rowdy-sheeters and was involved in murder, attempt to murder, extortion and intimidation and also burglaries in and around Vizag city since 2010.
