Burglars broke into a house at Tagarapuvalasa under Bheemili police station limits and made good with over 240 gms of gold ornaments, about 17 kg of silver articles, a laptop and Rs. one 1 of cash. The total worth is estimated at Rs. 20 lakh.
Though the incident occurred two days ago, it came to light on Monday, after the residents of the house lodged a complaint at the Bheemili police station.
According to the police, K. Krishna Rao, who owns a medical store, was residing with his family in an individual house near Sri Krishna Degree College at Tagarapuvalasa. On November 8, the family left for Jaggayyapeta of Krishna district to attend a family function and returned on Monday morning. On return, they found the cupboards open and the valuables kept inside missing.
As per the complaint lodged, the residents found the main door lock intact and were confused on how the burglars gained entry into the house.
The police suspect that the burglars would have used a master key to open the front door and after committing the crime would have locked it.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Crime) S. Varada Raju and the crime sleuths of Bheemili police station visited the scene of offence.
