Burglars decamp with cash, jewellery in Seethammadhara:

Burglars struck in the wee hours of Monday at an office located in the North Extension area of Seethammadhara and made good with about 35 tolas of gold ornaments and Rs. 2.15 lakh in cash.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) T. Ravi Kumar Murthy, one P. Subbaraju, contractor with MES (Military Engineering Services), brought gold ornaments from home to keep them in a bank’s locker on Saturday. But as the bank was closed by the time he reached, he put them in a cupboard in his office.

He was present at the office till evening on Sunday.

The burglars reportedly broke open the front door, then broke open the top drawer of Mr. Subbaraju’s table for cupboard key.

They opened the cupboard and made good with the cash and gold items.
