Bid to rob bank:

Robbers gained entry into the premises of State Bank of India (SBI), Industrial Estate branch, and tried in vain to open the locker room on Sunday night.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (North Zone) Bhima Rao, two or more persons might have been involved in the attempted robbery.

The thieves entered the bank through an opening in the roof and cut the two Godrej locks that were fastened to the shutter of the locker room, using a hacksaw blade. Though they were able to cut the locks they were unable to remove the locks and open the shutter. After they failed in their attempt, the robbers left the premises, said Mr. Bhima Rao.

The Clues team was pressed into service and finger and palm prints were recorded from the site of the offence.

According to the police, there was considerable negligence from the bank management side. The entry point was not sealed properly and neither the grill door behind the shutter had a lock.
