A BPO employee was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his workplace on Saturday night. V. Umamaheshwara Rao (26), resident of Anakapalli, who was on night shift in WNS, an ITES company, was found lying on the ground by the security personnel at about 10.30 p.m.

According to Three Town Police SHO K. Appalaraju, he was shifted to a private hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The initial inquest suggests that he had a broken hand and a few of his ribs were fractured. “We suspect that he had fallen from the terrace of the building. It could be a case of suicide but we are investigating all probable angles and are awaiting the post-mortem report,” said the SHO. Mr. Appalaraju told The Hindu that many of the professionals go to the terrace for a brief hiatus from the work, and the in-house CC camera show that he had moved out of the workstation, which is in the third floor, with another colleague a few minutes before the incident. “We are also questioning his colleagues and are examining the video footages,” he said.

The police have booked a case under CrPc 174 for death under suspicious circumstances.

In another case, one Visweswara Rao, resident of Karasa, Kancharpalem, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well located in the same area, late on Saturday night. The police have booked a case under Cr. Pc 174.

Two arrested

The City Task Force personnel apprehended two persons for allegedly selling anaesthetic drugs in Kancharapalem area. The arrested include Sagar (28) and Vinay (19). According to CTF officials they have recovered about 1,650 tablets from them. The accused were handed over to the Kancharapalem Police. The CTF personnel also arrested 10 persons for allegedly indulging in cockfight in Pedagaddili in Arilova. They recovered Rs. 10,500 in cash, three cocks and 21 knives from them. All the 10 have been handed over to the Arilova police.
