The Two Town police have nabbed a thief who specialised in stealing auto-rickshaws.
Koneti Naresh Kumar, resident of Sivalayam Street, Gnanapuram, was arrested for stealing four auto-rickshaws, since last one year.
According to ACP (crime) Phalguna Rao, the accused has the unique habit of driving away with an auto-rickshaw, especially when the owner of the vehicle had parked it and had gone somewhere close by.
He would then change the number plate of the vehicle and ply the auto in the suburban areas.
“But he never tried selling the vehicle or its parts. Once the vehicle comes to a repair stage, he would park it somewhere and pick up another vehicle,” said Mr. Phalguna Rao.
In the process, he lifted one vehicle from Two Town Police station area, one at Arilova, one at Gajuwaka and one at Amudalavalasa.
The police retrieved three of the four vehicles from three different places.
