YSR Congress district president G. Amarnadh has sought the immediate arrest of Surada Yellaji, a TDP worker accused of being the kingpin in the alleged murder of Anusha, a transgender.
Addressing press conference here on Friday, Mr. Amarnadh also demanded that TDP (South) MLA Vasupalli Ganesh resign for his alleged support to Yellaji and for trying to influence the investigation.
Mr. Amarnadh said that the conversation between Mr. Ganesh and his party workers, which was recorded and leaked, clearly indicated that the MLA was protecting Yellaji. He was also critical of the police for dragging their heels over the investigation. “The police have so far not arrested any of the accused. They should have taken up the case suo motu as there is enough evidence of foul play in the murder. But they are trying to cover it up under the pretext of prima facie evidence, which suggests natural death,” he said. Another party leader Koya Prasad Reddy said that there was no need for questioning the parents as they had already disowned Anusha.
‘Exploring all angles’
Meanwhile, ACP Ramana, the investigating officer in the case, told The Hindu that a few persons had been questioned and efforts were on to gather more evidence. “We are exploring all angles,” he said.
The party also demands the resignation of TDP MLA Vasupalli Ganesh for supporting the accused
