FRESH CASE SEES THE LIGHT OF DAY
A 13-year-old girl, studying in Class V, was raped allegedly by an autorickshaw driver on Monday afternoon.
The incident came to light after the victim’s elder sister lodged a complaint with the Fourth Town Police Station on Friday.
The accused was identified as Kosureddy Gowri Naidu (22).
According to the police, the accused is known to the elder sister, who ekes out a living by selling tender coconut at Akkayyapalem.
On Monday afternoon, when the girl was returning home after handing over the lunchbox to her sister, Gowri Naidu, under the pretext of showing her the Bheemunipatnam beach, coaxed the victim to board an autorickshaw. They got down at an isolated place, where he allegedly raped the girl.
Basing on a complaint filed by the victim’s sister, the police arrested the accused on Friday and booked him under IPC sections 376, 366 and POCSO .
