Accused in murder case surrender:

Two adivasis, including a woman, from Champaput village of Koraput district in Odisha, who allegedly killed one Urdhabha Khara, another adivasi from the same village, on the night of December 10, surrendered before the PM Palem police here on Tuesday.

The accused persons were Chokkarao Sailu and Bullamma Kimudi.

According to PM Palem Inspector Appalaraju, the two accused, the deceased and four others, all from the same village had come to the city to work as contract labourers in an apartment construction site a few days ago.

They left the job due to irregular wages and joined another company near IT SEZ, Madhurawada, on December 10.

On the same day, Chokkarao and Khara went to fetch grocery and returned home drunk. While Chokkarao was asleep, Khara sought sexual favours from Bullamma.

Hearing the commotion, Chokkaroa woke up and in a fit of anger hit Khara on the head with an iron pipe. Later, even Bullamma joined him in assaulting Khara, according to the police.

Realising that Khara was dead, the duo returned back to their village, leaving the body of Khara.

The body was discovered by the other co-workers the next day and a complaint was lodged in PM Palem police station.

On reaching the village, the accused were admonished by the village elders for the crime and told to surrender to the police.
