Accused in call money racket held:

72 documents and other incriminating material seized
The Gajuwaka police on Sunday arrested Gogineni Sudhakar, a moneylender and accused in the call money case.
During a search led by inspector M. Appa Rao, 72 documents and other incriminating material were seized.
Search is on for another moneylender and accused in the case Gogineni Subramanya Venkata Appa Rao.
Cases were booked against them under Sections 420, 384, 509, and 506 r/w 34 IPC on the charges of cheating associated with extortion, insulting the modesty of a woman, and criminal intimidation with common intention.
Additional DCP Ramgopal Nayak and ACP (South) G.B.R. Madhusudhna Rao, under whose supervision the case is being investigated, the two accused had extended a loan of Rs.15 lakh to K.V.S. Prasad of the Gajuwaka area by obtaining five blank cheques, blank bond papers, and blank non-judicial stamp papers with his signatures affixed on them as surety. They also obtained two blank cheques from Mr. Prasad’s wife and forced him to transfer a piece of land in Mehernagar to the name of Appa Rao by executing a GPA in the Gajuwaka Sub-Registrar’s office on the condition that it would be cancelled after the loan was repaid.
Though Mr. Prasad paid to the accused Rs.68.40 lakh, which was four times the amount he took as loan, and wanted his documents returned, he was asked to pay an additional Rs.30 lakh towards full and final settlement.
When he failed to do so, the accused allegedly started harassing Mr. Prasad by abusing him and frequently visiting his house and insulting his wife using unparliamentarily language.
Following a complaint lodged by Mr. Prasad, the Gajuwaka police took up investigation.
Inspectors of Duvvada, Parawada, and Steel Plant police stations — Ch. Simhadrinaidu, Ramana Murthy, and Durga Prasad respectively, conducted a search in the house of the accused.
Appeal
The police appealed to those being harassed by call money businessmen to lodge complaints without fear. Justice would be done and protection provided to them, the police assured.
