AU research scholar attempts suicide:

A research scholar in the Department of Zoology allegedly attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills here on Wednesday.
The scholar Sireesha reportedly had some differences with her guide over a project and consumed the pills. She fell unconscious in the campus near the sport complex and was shifted to King George Hospital. After the initial procedures in the Casualty ward, she was shifted to the Bhavanagar ward and was said to be in a stable condition.
However, neither the doctors nor the family members confirmed what she had consumed and no case was booked.
According to sources, Sireesha joined as research scholar in 2013 and from 2014 she was working on a project with senior Professor C. Annapurna in the department. She was also being paid about Rs. 7,000 per month from April 2014, as part of the project stipend.
However, in 2015 she was selected for the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship, where she was eligible for a stipend of over Rs. 20,000 a month.
“After getting the fellowship she wanted to work under another guide. To which, I agreed but asked her to return the project details, as it was an official audited project,” Dr. Annapurna told The Hindu .

According to Aareti Mahesh, AU Student JAC, the research scholar was upset for being asked to return the data of the project, as she had already put two years of work. “This apparently sent her into depression and she tried to commit suicide,” he said.
