In a major haul, the Prohibition and Excise Department seized about 400 kg of dry ganja, valued to be about Rs. 40 lakh, and arrested two persons in this connection on Monday.
According to Excise Inspector of Narsipatnam, M. Jaganmohan Rao, the contraband was being smuggled in a lorry with Nagaland registration.
The ganja was procured from Odisha and was being smuggled through the Chintapalli- Visakhapatnam route.
Based on a tip off the Excise officials caught the lorry near Nellimetta in Narsipatnam mandal.
According to Mr. Jaganmohan Rao, the ganja packed in 10 kg packets and was stored in specially fabricated chamber beneath the chassis of the vehicle.
