A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old man at an isolated place in the limits of Padmanabham police station in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. Both victim and accused person are cowherds and residents of the same colony.
The police said that the girl took the cattle out into fields for grazing. Noticing the girl alone in the area, the accused, B. Eswara Rao, allegedly raped the girl. The accused fled the spot soon after committing the crime, the police said.
The girl brought it to the notice of her parents in the evening. Based on the statement of the girl, we have filed a case against the accused under IPC Section 376 (rape) and relevant sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, said N. Prabhakar, SHO of Padmanabham police station. The girl was sent to KGH for medical examination.
