Increase in customs duty on aluminium hailed: NALCO Chairman and Managing Director Tapan Kumar Chand has welcomed the proposal to increase the basic customs duty on primary aluminium from five to 7.5 per cent and on aluminium products from 7.5 to 10 per cent.

Mr. Chand, who was recently elected as the president of Aluminium Association of India (AAI), said the proposal made in the Union Budget would help the aluminium industry in checking influx of cheap imports.
