GVMC on Wednesday signed a concession agreement with the Jindal Urban Waste Management Limited on setting up of a waste-to-energy plant at Gidijala in Anandapuram mandal.
Municipal Commissioner Pravin Kumar, who signed the agreement with a company representative, said the GVMC would provide on lease 20 acres of land for the plant to generate 15 MW of electricity.
GVMC has to supply 952 tonnes of solid waste to the plant to be set up with a cost of Rs.152 crore in 18 months.
Signing of the concession agreement was a follow up of MoU signed during the Partnership Summit of CII in January for setting up the plant.
