District tops in per capita income:

The district has secured the first place in the State by having a per capita income of Rs.1,40,628 crore for 2015-16.
The gross domestic product registered a growth rate of 13.58 per cent, according to Joint Collector-2 D Venkata Reddy.
Presiding over a meeting held to take stock of the progress of works under agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, animal husbandry, irrigation, DWMA, Minor Irrigation and other departments on the fourth day of the Nava Nirmana Deeksha here on Sunday, the Joint Collector directed the officials concerned to take note of the deficiencies, if any, in the implementation of the programme and take measures in consultation with experts on improving the productivity.
Mr. Reddy said the target for 2016-17 was Rs.9,860 crore in the primary sector, Rs.28,375 crore for the industry sector and Rs.36,219 crore for the services sector with a targeted growth rate of 14.32 per cent.

Joint Directors Satyanarayana (Agriculture), Venkateswara Rao (Animal Husbandry) and Koteswara Rao (Fisheries), and Assistant Director of Horticulture Prabhakara Rao, spoke.
