THE COAST GUARD PAID HOMAGE TO PILOT OF ILL FATED DORNIER CG 791 WHO LOST HIS LIFE IN THE CRASH OF OFF TAMIL NADU COAST ON 08 JUN 15 WHILE ON SURVEILLANCE MISSION. A WREATH LAYING CEREMONY WAS ORGANISED TO PAY LAST RESPECTS TO THE DECEASED PILOT AT THE COAST GUARD DISTRICT HEADQUARTERS, MALKAPURAM, VISAKHAPATNAM ON SUNDAY 16TH AUGUST 2015 WITH FULL SERVICE HONOURS TO BID ADIEU TO THE DEPARTED SOUL. DEPUTY INSPECTOR GENERAL JS SABHARWAL, THE COMMANDER COAST GUARD ANDHRA PRADESH LAID THE WREATH WITH GUARD IN ATTENDANCE. SENIOR SERVICE OFFICERS, CIVIL DIGGNITIARIES, OFFICERS, MEN AND THEIR FAMILIES FROM THE COAST GUARD ALSO PAID FLORAL TRIBUTE TO THE DEPARTED SOUL. THE MORTAL REMAINS OF THE OFFICER WAS HANDED OVER TO THE FAMILY MEMBERS AFTER THE CEREMONY ALONG WITH EX-GRATIA PAYMENT OF RS 10 LAKH RECEIVED FROM THE HON’BLE CHIEF MINISTER OF TAMIL NADU MS J. JAYALALITHAA.
THE COAST GUARD HAD LAUNCHED ONE OF THE BIGGEST SEARCH OPERATION OVER SEA IN THE RECENT TIME CODE NAMED “TALASH” TO SEARCH AND RECOVER THE AIRCRAFT. THE OPERATION LASTED FOR 36 DAYS AND FINALLY THE WRECKAGE AND HUMAN REMAINS WERE RECOVERED BY MSV OLYMPIC CANYON ON HIRE BY M/S. RELIANCE INDUSTRIES FROM SEABED AT A DEPTH ABOUT 960 METERS. THE HUMAN REMAINS WERE SENT FOR DNA TESTING AFTER OBTAINING SAMPLES FROM THE NEXT OF KIN AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE REMAINS BELONG TO DECEASED AIRCREW.
