Our artist / artists for the month of November are the children from Amodita.
Amodita is a registered "Parents Association for the Handicapped", and over here
they share an important interest in the child and in his or her all round development. It
is their commitment to discover the needs, interests and abilities of each child through
the formal school system, to create a unique individual and a good citizen. They endeavour
to create a better world for the mentally and physically handicapped child and also to
teach them to help others without the direct involvement of money. In this materialistic
world children are often confused in their priorities and so it becomes all the more
difficult to teach them this.
Pictures 1 and 2 are done by Mercy. She has
no fingers and has created this work of art using the stubs of both hands. She is a young
girl who cheerfully shares the talents she has and teaches a group of youngsters. Her life
speaks eloquently that when you, "fix your eyes on God's sky above, the shadows
beneath won't bother you".
Pictures 3 and 4 are a joint effort of the
special children who come under the wing of Amodita. With care and training, children who
are mentally handicapped are able to make their own achievements. They affirm Amodita's
philosophy that "only in a world of love, can we unfold and grow." |
