Graduated from St. Bede's college, Shimla and born in Pune, our artist of the month
Ms. Rashmi Singhal comes from a family that believes in national integration. Her father
is a Punjabi, her mother a Maharashtrian and she is married into a family from Uttar
Pradesh. Her husband, Lt. Cdr. S. Singhal, is an officer of the Indian Navy and is now
posted in Visakhapatnam for the last 4 and 1/2 years. She has two lovely children and a
beautiful Cocker-Spaniel. She has been doing freelance writing for the last couple of
years with middles in newspapers and articles in Army and Navy magazines and has also
taught French for a while. She devotes time to oil-painting, sketching, calligraphy,
ceramics and copper-enamelling. She has written a story book for children called "My
Friends at Sonnenshine" which has recently been published and has also done the art
sketching and calligraphy of a colouring book for children in the U.S.A.
Being the daughter of an army officer, she
has travelled widely all over India and also spent a few years in Malaysia and the U.S.A. |
