About our artist: Dr.
Ch Venkateswara Rao from Visakhapatnam.
Our featured artist for the month of January, 2005 is Dr
Ch Venkateswara Rao. He calls himself a rank amateur, self-taught with no formal training of any kind. He paints in his leisure hours and likes to depict his passion for nature in oils, water colours and glass paintings as well.
Hailing from a small town in Krishna district, Dr Rao led his childhood years in poverty. At school, he studied in Telugu medium and amazed his teachers with his mathematical skills. Perseverance and hard work paid off when he was awarded a gold medal in his Ph.D in Applied Mathematics from Andhra University in 1998. His degree landed him with his current job as an Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics in GITAM College at Visakhapatnam.

At some time in the future, Dr Venkateswara Rao hopes to be a professor in a reputed university either in the United Kingdom or the United States of America while gaining recognition in the field of Fine Arts.
He speaks about the latest trends in art by keeping abreast with information via the Internet. Apart from pencil sketches and oil paints, he feels portraits are the most difficult form of art depiction and variable art is simpler.
Glass is the medium he opts for as the beauty of the colours, images and strokes of the pictures increases manifold. His good lady Mrs Ch Sunitha Kumari supports his aspirations and helps in painting the backgrounds of canvas, boards and also suggests colour combinations.
Dr Rao says that some day he would like to paint a picture of the human face with different emotions writ clearly on it. "I would like to dabble with other media of art and exhibit my art pieces in the country and also abroad",
he adds enthusiastically.
