Ranga Rao takes charge as Visakhapatnam Deputy Inspector General

LKV Ranga Rao assumed charge as Deputy Inspector General of Police, Visakhapatnam Range on Wednesday (26-06-2019).

After taking charge, the new DIG said that the focus will be on prevention of crime and get reachable to the people in the range. Listing his priorities, Rao said they will continue to be people-friendly besides reining in rate of accidents, ganja smuggling and Maoists activities. Rao has an experience of 14 years in the special investigation branch and other special police units like the Greyhounds and participated in anti-Maoist operations.

In 2005, after peace talks failed between the government and the Maoists and it was followed by an encounter in Warangal, Rao was officer on special duty (OSD) anti-naxal operations.
