Deputy Inspector-General A.K. Harbola (left in the picture) on Monday took charge as the Coast Guard Commander (Andhra Pradesh) from Deputy Inspector-General J.S. Sabharwal at the Coast Guard jetty here. A post-graduate in physics, Mr. Harbola has qualified ‘Naval Communicator’ and is an alumnus of International Maritime School of US Coast Guard, Virginia, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and National Defence College, New Delhi. He has been awarded with Tatrakshak Medal for Gallantry by the President of India. He has commanded four Coast Guard Ships (including one hovercraft). He will be responsible for charter of Coast Guard within Andhra Pradesh. DIG J.S. Sabharwal has proceeded to Mumbai to take over responsibilities of the Coast Guard Commander (Maharashtra).
